The Halloween decorations are up! So far, October has been busy. The past couple of weeks was filled with fall ball, family staying over and getting my daughter ready to go on her fall vacation with grandma. On top of everything, the venue for my daughter’s birthday party fell through so I have been stressing to find a place to have it.
Before Zoey left for her vacation she asked me if I could decorate while she was away. She loves Halloween so much, it’s the day we brought her home from the hospital and has had a love for it ever since. I took a day to get everything together and so far, I like it all!
We eat at this little table most nights instead of our dining room so I like to decorate the table for Zoey. She enjoys the little witch candles and went crazy over the pumpkin salt and pepper shakers! So I found the candle sticks at Michaels a couple of years ago, they are adorable so I never light them. The salt and pepper shakers were a 90% off steal at JCPenney and the placemats are from Target’s Dollar Spot (last year).
For our coffee bar, I kept it simple. At first I put the pumpkins down directly on the table but it did not look finished to me. Luckily right now, Target’s dollar spot has a cake stand that worked for this space. A couple of years ago, I found this Lucky Raven sign at Dollar Tree. I liked that it consisted of mostly coffee and desserts, it works for coffee bar decor and the best part? It was a dollar! The cute sign on the other side of the cups is from Kirklands, and I was able to snag it for 75% off.
You all know how much I love the Dollar Tree, I was able to pull this together with Dollar Tree items (mostly). They are currently selling Halloween ornaments and I knew that I could load them in my lantern and it would look amazing and it does! To complete everything I topped the top off with ribbon that also came from the Dollar Tree! The glitter pumpkins are from last year’s Target Clearance, I love glitter and pumpkins so naturally I had to put these out!
When my daughter and I are trying to kill time we like to walk around stores and we found this awesome eerie picture at the 99 cent store, she begged me to get it and it added some creepiness to our decorations. This space is right above our DVD tower and there is not a lot of space on top. My square Jack O Lantern, mummy and Frankenstein fit so I went with it. I found them 75% off at Kirklands!
These ghosts are probably my favorite! They are soo cute and their faces remind me of my aunt’s scrapbooking from when I was a kid. The best part is that they fit on top of Zoey’s extremely small DVD tower! Also found these at Kirkland’s for 75% off. It’s safe to say at this point that most of my decor is bought during after season clearance.
For my other end table I thought I would keep it super simple. I found the big pumpkin candy jar at Target’s dollar spot and every year I fill it with candy. The other two pumpkins came from the Dollar Tree, I read somewhere that groups of three work well when decorating and I liked the way it looks! To take it to the next level I added this simple Happy Halloween sign.
This corner was a hit with Zoey, she likes spooky stuff and mentioned that it looked like it was supposed to be in the Haunted Mansion. I posted this on Instagram because I loved it too! The haunted phone and radio came from Target last year, surprisingly not on clearance but Zoey was alone with her grandparents and these “magically appeared”. The ghost, candlesticks, and white pumpkin are from Kirklands (75% clearance) and the spooky fabric is from Walmart! The skull and arm are from a skeleton that would go in our yard every year but he did not survive the wrath of toddler Zoey so now the salvageable portions of are displayed here. When I first put this together I thought it might be a little to dark and creepy so I added the tall ghost to lighten it up a little.
My poor entertainment center was looking bare and all I had left was a few things that did not quite fit together with the rest of the decorations so they ended up here. I got bored a few days ago and crocheted a crazy pumpkin and it made its way here. The skull lights up and plays the Michael Myers theme, my husband surprised me with it when we were first dating. The candle holder is from Michaels but it’s been a few years, it was one of the first decorations I ever bought. The cute Frankenstein guy was a clearance find at Kirklands, I was sad I could not find a place for him this year.
So, while writing this I noticed that different parts of my decorations started to have a theme. The spooky corner had a skull/ skeleton vibe and this seems to have a pumpkin theme going. I love it though! The adorable Jack O lantern portrait, jars, smiling pumpkin on the table, blood donors needed sign and the standing Jack O lantern with tulle all came from Kirklands 75% off clearance. The hanging pumpkins and the Jack O Lantern cup are from Dollar Tree, and the Happy Halloween glass sign is from the Target dollar spot. I found the awesome table runner at Big Lots, I could not leave the store without it! The stuffed cat and ghost are from Avon. The witch broom was actually from Zoey’s Halloween costume and I decided to use it as decor because it’s really nice! I like the way this turned out, I like the oranges and purples and it makes it feel most like Halloween in my home.
So remember what I was saying about each portion of my decor having a theme? Well this next one came together as a witch theme. My daughter was a witch last year and loved everything involving witches, her favorite Halloween movies are Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown. Naturally, I started to like them too because it reminds me of the pure excitement she had while planning out her Wicked Witch of the West costume.
The felt witch and broomstick both came from Target, the witch was a clearance buy last year but the broomstick is still available. The rest came from Kirklands clearance ( I went little crazy a few years ago when I came across the sale).
So that’s it! All of my Halloween decor! As you can tell by now, I love shopping clearance and the majority of my decor comes from clearance finds. It looks awesome and the best part is that it’s easy on the wallet. I can’t wait until the end of season this year so I can add and grow to my current selection! Thanks for reading! Have a Happy Halloween!
